Have Camera, Will Travel

I'm a hospitality, outdoor, and destination photographer based in Asheville, North Carolina. I've lived in these mountains for more than twenty years, long enough to know which coves hold fog in October and what time the light leaves a west-facing porch.

Most of my commercial work happens within about 200 miles of Asheville: Western North Carolina, North Georgia, Upstate South Carolina, and East Tennessee.

For destination and tourism projects, I travel farther.

FAQ

Where is Momento Mori Photography based?

Asheville, North Carolina. I shoot on location, so there's no studio to come to. I come to you.

How far will you travel for a photoshoot?

Up to about 200 miles from Asheville, with a travel fee that's built into your quote. That covers most of the Southern Appalachians, from Boone to Blue Ridge, Georgia, and from Knoxville to Greenville, South Carolina.

I spend a lot of time in Hiawassee, Georgia, so there's no travel fee for shoots in the Hiawassee and Lake Chatuge area.

Past 200 miles, I quote travel by project. I've photographed for clients in Atlanta, St. Marys, Georgia, Giles County, Virginia, and southern West Virginia.

Which towns and regions do you serve?

Western North Carolina: Asheville, Black Mountain, Weaverville, Marshall, Hot Springs, Burnsville, Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Hendersonville, Brevard, Saluda, Lake Lure, Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Sylva, Bryson City, Cashiers, and Highlands.

North Georgia: Hiawassee, Young Harris, Blairsville, Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Clayton, Helen, and Dahlonega, including Lake Chatuge and Lake Burton.

Upstate South Carolina: Greenville, Travelers Rest, Pickens, Seneca, and the Lake Keowee and Lake Jocassee area.

East Tennessee: Knoxville, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Townsend, and Johnson City.

If your town isn't listed, ask. It's probably closer than you think.

Why hire a photographer who also does marketing?

I also run the social media, newsletters, and Meta ads for several of the properties I photograph. So I shoot with the Instagram crop, the ad placement, and the booking page already in mind, and you leave with images built for where they'll be used.

Do you offer marketing help outside this area?

Yes. Marketing consults are virtual, so they work from anywhere.

How do I book a shoot?

Book a meeting or send me the property, the town, and your timing. I'll reply within two business days with available dates.

How much does a commercial photoshoot cost?

Every shoot is quoted after a short call, because the price depends on the number of days, the shot list, whether we need video, and how you'll use the images.

Book a meeting, tell me what you have in mind, and I'll send a written quote.
